After we get our fill of the quaint city of Trinidad, it’s off to Shasta! Just two hours East, this little town is one of Northern California’s fastest growing locations for destination vacationing, great for nature lovers and extreme sports enthusiast.

As you make your way through our West Coast Road Trip itinerary, rejuvenate and recharge along the way  in a luxury vacation rental! Not only will you be super comfortable, you’ll be saving money if you book your vacation rental direct with the property manager. Trinidad, CA

Trinidad is all about enjoying the beauty of the surrounding nature. There are plenty of beaches to discover, as well as outdoor activities to explore. Here are our top 5 things to explore in Trinidad:

  • Patrick’s Point State Park is a lushly forested state park with tidepools, seals, sea lions, whales and more! You can picnic or camp throughout the park.

Mt. Shasta, CA

                                     Shasta Lake

Mt. Shasta is about two hours East of Trinidad, at the southern end of the Cascade range, and is known as being one of the world’s preeminent  sacred mountains. It is recognized as an eligible Native American cultural and cosmological property on the National Register of Historic Places. More on that here.  Here are our top 5 things to do in the area.

  • Obviously you have to see the mountain. You can’t really miss it, but make sure you stop to fully take in its beauty.

  • Lake Siskiyou is another beauty not to be missed. This lake is quiet and beautiful, the hike around the lake is well worth it.

  • You’ll probably get hungry from all that hiking. Try Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir. It’s simple yet elegant and the menu changes seasonally to feature dishes from southern Europe and Northern Africa.

  • Lava Beds National Monument is definitely worth a view. 72-sq-mile landscape of geological features – lava flows, craters, cinder cones, spatter cones and amazing lava tubes.

  • Quench your thirst with a crisp ale at Dunsmuir Brewery Works, this little microbrew pub is a great, cozy little place to hang out and unwind. They also have delicious bar food.
